Gonzalez Appointed Artistic Director
Carl Gonzalez, an award-winning director, playwright, and educator, has been appointed Artistic Director of the Park Performing Arts Center (PPAC). “Carl is an experienced and enthusiastic promoter of the arts and arts education,” said John Lewis, PPAC’s executive director. “The board and staff are very excited about bringing Carl’s talents to our continuing efforts to build a vibrant arts community here at the Park Theater.”
Some of his directing credits include The Crucible (Arthur Miller Literary Magazine award), The Philadelphia Story (Top Ten plays, Twelve Miles West) and Whatever Happened to You and Me (OOBR award). Carl, a former board member, has
directed the production of the Passion Play at the
PPAC since 2006.
As an educator, Carl has taught acting throughout New Jersey including Arts High School in Newark, NJ, the first performing arts school in the nation, as well as the Performing Arts High School in Jersey City where he received the Merrill Lynch Outstanding Scholar award. Carl earned his BA in English Literature at Saint Peter’s College and an M.A. in Communications and Theatre at Montclair State University. Carl has been a member of the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), the Dramatics Guild and Drama League of New York.
